    Bruce Caron –
I am seeking information on the Melville Reiss Shows – a rail carnival – circa 1925. I have photographs and have learned that my biological, maternal grandfather was a performer, riding an Indian motorcycle in a drone. His name was William Jennings Weese – of Kokomo, Indiana.

      Hi Kim,
The Library of Congress might have some photos. Otherwise, what you can Google is as good as I can. Good luck!

I am seeking the identity of trade magazines cateloges or other publications that would contain advertisements of manufacturers of or dealers in the type of merchance that would be given as prizes or sold on the midways. I have found some material in the “Merchandise” section of Billboard magazine, which seem to cater to pitchmen, etc. My focus is on the 40’s–war years–but any information regarding publications for the carnival, circus, souviner shops, novelty shops etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Hi David. Great question. I do not know of any trade magazines for these goods. I bet there were catalogs (that might have been advertised in other magazines). I’m not still doing carnival these days. cheers.
